Frequently asked questions about buying in Tenerife
What taxes do you pay when buying a property in Tenerife?
On a resale home you pay transfer tax (ITP), which in the Canary Islands is 6.5% of the purchase price. New builds pay IGIC instead of ITP. On top of that come notary and land registry fees.
Do I need an NIE to buy as a foreigner?
Yes. Foreign buyers need an NIE (foreigner identification number) to complete the deed on a property in Spain. We help with the paperwork.
